Our client, Mitsubishi HC Capital America , is seeking a Special Assets Officer to join their Credit Division. This role is critical in managing and restructuring distressed accounts, with a focus on asset-based lending, equipment finance, and commercial loans. 🔍 THE ROLE: DRIVE IMPACT ON SPECIAL ASSETS

As a Special Assets Officer at Mitsubishi HC Capital America (MHCA), you will be the go-to expert for turning distressed accounts into recovery opportunities. Reporting into the Senior Vice President, Head of Client Account Management, you will take charge of asset-based lending (ABL), commercial loans, and equipment finance workouts, developing strategies that protect MHCA while helping clients find a path forward.

This is a high visibility role where your decisions directly shape outcomes. You will negotiate with borrowers, restructure loans, and collaborate with portfolio, underwriting, and legal teams to minimize risk and maximize recovery. From analyzing financials and collateral to leading workout strategies, you will be at the center of MHCA’s credit risk strategy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead workouts and restructurings for distressed ABL, commercial, and equipment finance accounts
  • Negotiate directly with borrowers to drive successful resolutions
  • Build and execute recovery strategies that protect MHCA’s portfolio
  • Partner with internal teams and external advisors to ensure compliance and optimize outcomes
  • Deliver clear reporting and insights to senior leadership

🛠️ WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 10+ years in credit-based lending across multiple business segments; 3+ years in special assets, workouts, or restructuring
  • Proven experience in asset-based lending (ABL)
  • Background in equipment finance and/or floor plan lending
  • Strong track record in commercial lending and loan workouts
  • Strong knowledge of distressed portfolios, recovery regulations, and risk mitigation strategies
  • Advanced financial analysis and credit risk assessment skills; cash flow modeling, collateral evaluation, and loan structuring
  • Exceptional negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence borrowers, stakeholders, & senior leadership
  • Highly organized, capable of managing multiple complex recovery cases, tight deadlines, & detailed reporting requirements

💰 COMPENSATION: $95,000 – $110,000; based on experience. This role is also eligible for a year-end bonus.
