Job Description

:

Communicare is seeking a motivated and creative  Public Health Outreach Specialist to support our mission of promoting accessible mental health, primary health, and substance use services throughout our six counties (Calhoun, Lafayette, Marshall, Panola, Tate, and Yalobusha). This individual will serve as a key representative of Communicare at community events and play an active role in developing and executing communication initiatives that strengthen awareness of our programs and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent Communicare at community outreach events, health fairs, schools, and partner organizations to promote our behavioral health, primary care, and substance use services.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with community partners, organizations, and stakeholders to enhance outreach efforts.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Public Relations and Outreach to develop, plan, and execute outreach campaigns that align with Communicare’s goals and initiatives.
  • Assist with the creation and coordination of internal and external communications, including social media, traditional media, and digital media content.
  • Contribute to the planning, strategy, and execution of marketing and communication campaigns.
  • Create engaging visual and written content to support public education, awareness, and service promotion.
  • Track and report outreach activities, engagement, and campaign performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, communications, marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in community outreach, public engagement, or health promotion.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, or similar) required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to represent the organization professionally in public settings.
  • Experience managing or contributing to social media, digital marketing, and media campaigns.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Must provide a portfolio showcasing relevant design and communication work.
  • Must be able to work in person and attend community events as required, including occasional evenings or weekends.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
