Job Description

Our client, a global law firm, is seeking a Patent Agent or Patent Attorney with expertise in biophysics, bioinformatics, or AI/ML.

Schedule: Hybrid 2/3.

Billable Hours: The firm has a billable hour target of 1,600-1,800 hours.

Salary:

Patent Agent: $150k- $250k

Patent Attorney: $180k-$300k

Location: This role is open in their Los Angeles or San Francisco office.

Responsibilities:

• Draft patent applications and documents for all stages of the patent prosecution process.
• Coordinate and correspond with inventors and clients regarding invention disclosures.
• Conduct and analyze prior art searches to support patent applications.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of patent laws to assist clients effectively.

Patent Agent Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a registered Patent Agent, with 5+ years preferred.
• Strong background in biophysics, biomedical engineering, computational biology, bioinformatics, data science, or AI/ML.
• Proficiency in drafting patent applications and managing client portfolios.
• A degree and/or experience in biophysics, biomedical engineering, computational biology, bioinformatics, data science, or AI/ML (Advanced degree is preferred).
• Registered to practice with the USPTO.

Patent Attorney Qualifications:

• Registered to practice with the USPTO.
• A degree and/or experience in biophysics, biomedical engineering, computational biology, bioinformatics, data science, or AI/ML (Advanced degree is preferred).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a registered Patent attorney, with 5+ years preferred.
• Active member in good standing of the California State Bar.
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
