Machine Shop Manager

Pay: $120,000 – $185,000/year (based on experience)

Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday (40+ hrs/week)

Position Overview

Seeking an experienced Machine Shop Manager to oversee daily operations in a high-mix, low-volume machining environment. The role involves managing people, equipment, and schedules to meet production goals while maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct daily CNC and manual machining operations
• Plan production schedules and allocate labor/resources effectively
• Lead, coach, and develop machinists and setup personnel
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and maintenance teams to resolve issues and improve throughput
• Track and report key performance metrics (safety, quality, delivery, productivity)
• Drive continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
• Ensure safety compliance and equipment maintenance

Qualifications

• 10+ years machining experience, including 5+ in a leadership role
• Strong knowledge of CNC and manual machining, setup, and tooling
• Experience in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
• Skilled in team leadership and performance management
• Familiar with ERP systems and lean principles
• Technical degree or equivalent experience preferred
