SUMMARY

The Marine Construction Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates. The Estimator will work with our team to ensure the development of comprehensive bid take-offs that will be utilized for bid submissions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Prepare construction documents and coordinate with the design and management team.
• Prepare Rough Order of Magnitude and budgetary estimates when project/s are conceptual or in the preliminary design stages.
• Meet with regulatory authorities and parties as needed.
• Identify and address conflicts and discrepancies concerning bid documents before estimating or bid submission.
• Manage and maintain bid documents and estimate information throughout the estimating process.
• Maintain clean and accurate records and files.
• Formally secure firm pricing from Vendors and Subcontractors at bid time that support cost estimates.
• Ensure estimates are accurate and well organized.
• Review cost estimates with team members.
• Assist with budget preparation upon contract award.
• Review drawings and ensure accurate document preparation.
• Determine and define project scope and objectives.
• Predict resources needed to reach objectives.
• Monitor Bid websites and groups in order to identify opportunities to bid on.

SKILLS, QUALITIES, EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 3+ years’ experience preparing cost estimates for Marine Projects
• Proven experience with scheduling, estimating, and project controls software (Primavera P6, Heavy Bid, Heavy Job etc.)
• Expert skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
• Strong organizational and project management skills
• Detail oriented
• Effective communicator with multiple audiences
• Must be able to effectively collaborate internally and with outside partners
