Janitor/Cleaner/Custodian

A janitor or cleaner must maintain a clean facility by completing various tasks. These duties include mopping and vacuuming floors, cleaning surfaces with disinfectant, and emptying trash cans or recycling bins.

Duties and Responsibilities

A janitor/cleaner/custodian oversees keeping the workplace clean, organized, and disinfected. The following responsibilities include:

• Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures.
• Performs work assignments in a team with other employees.
• Take direction and respond to supervision.
• Talk with the manager, peers, and customers professionally.
• Use proper personal protective equipment.
• Understand customer service and satisfaction.
• Clean the interior of buildings, including floors, carpets, rugs, windows, walls, and restrooms.
• Disinfect commonly used items like desks, door handles, office tools, and phones.
• Maintain cleaning inventory and place orders for new products when needed.
• Remove debris from sidewalks.
• Empty trash and recycling bins.

Requirements:

• Must be energetic, pleasant, and professional.
• Strong communication skills.
