Job Description

This position involves overseeing the daily field operations for assigned projects. While the primary expectations are outlined below, additional responsibilities may be added as needed.

Key Duties

• Promote and uphold all company safety standards.
• Prepare task-specific hazard assessments and conduct routine safety checks.
• Arrange and record required inspections, testing, and quality-control activities.
• Ensure compliance with dust mitigation plans, SWPPP guidelines, and other environmental rules.
• Coordinate and schedule labor, materials, equipment, and inspections to keep the project on track and within specifications.
• Lead field crews, ensuring work meets quality expectations and progresses according to the project timeline.
• Work closely with team members and subcontractors to interpret plans, plan work sequences, and keep all phases of construction moving efficiently.
• Oversee day-to-day jobsite operations and provide regular updates to the project management team.

Leadership Expectations

This role includes supervision of forepersons and all assigned craft teams (earthwork, pipe, structures, etc.). Team composition varies by project size. The superintendent is responsible for workforce planning, task delegation, coaching and training, and resolving performance or personnel issues.

Required Background

Candidates should demonstrate strong field experience and the ability to perform all essential job functions.

• At least 5 years of experience as an earthwork or roadway superintendent/foreperson
• About 10 years of experience reading construction plans and specifications
• Must pass a background check and maintain a valid driver’s license

Must be willing to travel throughout the midwest.
