Rajsamand Jan Vikas Sansthan (RJVS) is active for the empowerment of women and adolescent girls in the district of Rajsamand in Rajasthan. In the education sector, the main problem faced by the district is the higher dropout rates among the children, especially girls at the age of 13 to 17, due to poverty, child marriage (among girls), household works, safety, and security, etc. RJVS is working among the children in the rural areas by helping them to get benefits of the Right to education act, government schemes for accessing education and Government scholarships to eligible poor students. It has been noticed that wherever a girl’s education is good, child marriages are less. Career counseling is extended through experts to help the students to select their subjects in line with their ambition. So, we are helping to enroll the adolescents into the state open school. More than 450 girls have enrolled for last three years and are continuing their study. Support is extended to such children by organizing coaching teachers of different subjects to help those who have left their studies long back. By taking sponsorship from individuals and organizations RJVS distributes scholarships to needy children to continue their study by providing books, uniforms, and other things. Girls from poor families are encouraged to seek admission to hostels.
